About Us

MIA is a non-profit making organization founded by a group of artists and art administrators in 2004 and registered officially in 2006. The founding members include Chan Ka-yi, Ivy, Chan Kam-shing, Chris, Lai Wai-yi, Monti, Lee Mei-kuen, Carol, Tang Ying-chi, Stella and Tang Ying-mui, Grace.

It is established for the purpose to build up their artistic career, and they work together to promote contemporary art in Hong Kong by organizing art-related projects and events. The group encourages independent, self-autonomous and multi-facets works.

 

Mission

MIA seeks advances in the creation of visual art, and works to deepen the public’s understanding of visual art, strengthen the links between visual art and the society, enhance art appreciation in everyday life and connect Hong Kong's art with the world.

Macau Direct Flight Destinations Trade and Cultural Expo

MIA members and friends will show their work at Dynamic Hong Kong at the Macau Direct Flight Destinations Trade and Cultural Expo, from Spe.2 to 4, 2011 at The Venetian Macao Convention and Exhibition Centre Hall A.

This exhibition features original works of Hong Kong artists to communicate issues of connectivity among contemporary cities. Exhibits include: sculpture, painting, and craftwork.

Artists: TANG Ying Chi, TANG Ying Mui, SHUM, Violet, CHAN, Kam Shing and HO Wing-man, Kurama.

Art Container Project

From may 2008, ongoing

The Art Container Project combines the creativity of top local artists, professionals in the container and logistics industries, as well as experts from the business sector. They join their hands to discover an extraordinary journey of art. Organised by MIA (Mere Independent Artists) and co-oragnised by Asia Container Leasing Co. Ltd., it is a project originated in Hong Kong and a collaboration of the art circle and other sectors.
